The fluorite content in the coating makes the arc less stable and the pool less fluid; the arc must therefore be kept very short due to the low level of volatility of the coating itself; this mean the welders need to be very experienced in such operations. The slag produced can be very hard and difficult to remove; it must however be removed if it is necessary to repeat the operation
